(5/14/2012) The New York Philharmonic’s 170th subscription season will conclude with Music Director Alan Gilbert, The Yoko Nagae Ceschina Chair, leading the Orchestra in an all- Mozart program: the Mass in C minor, Great, and Piano Concerto No. 22, featuring Emanuel Ax — Honorary Member of the Philharmonic-Symphony Society of New York — as soloist, Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 21 at 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 22 at 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, June 23 at 8:00 p.m. The C-minor Mass will feature performances by soprano Jennifer Zetlan (making her New York Philharmonic debut), mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnson Cano, tenor Paul Appleby (also making his Philharmonic debut), baritone Joshua Hopkins, and the New York Choral Artists, directed by Joseph Flummerfelt. Ms. Zetlan, Ms. Johnson Cano, Mr. Appleby, and Mr. Hopkins will join Alan Gilbert and the Philharmonic to perform the C-minor Mass at the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival July 27.

(5/7/2012) On Saturday, April 28, Kitchen Theatre Company (KTC) hosted Dance the Night Away, the theatre's 21st anniversary celebration. Local celebrities and members of the KTC staff participated in a friendly dance competition. Performing the Cha-Cha with Dr. Kristna Kapur, dancer Dr. Luis Mauleon raised the most money, winning the competition and a weekend trip to New York City for two. Dance the Night Away raised a grand total of $40,000 for the Kitchen Theatre Company—the most successful fundraising event in KTC history.

(4/4/2012) According to Ennis King, the older brother in Nathan Louis Jackson’s Broke-ology that opens for previews at the Kitchen Theatre on April 4th and runs through April 22nd, he has developed a new scientific theory. As Ennis explains to his younger brother Malcolm, “Broke-ology…is a complex new science that examines two things. One, being broke. Two, staying alive despite your brokenness.” Ennis and Malcolm are experts in broke-ology, and their situation is complicated by their aging father William’s quickening decline. Poverty, the American dream and the ties that bind a family together are brought into focus in this new play.

(4/3/2012) Aaron Sorkin ’83, award-winning screenwriter for films such as “A Few Good Men,” "The American President,” “The Social Network” and “Moneyball,” as well as TV shows including “Sports Night,” “The West Wing,” “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” and HBO’s upcoming drama “The Newsroom," will deliver the 2012 Commencement address at the joint ceremony for Syracuse University, Syracuse University College of Law and the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY-ESF) on Sunday, May 13, in the Carrier Dome.

(4/3/2012) Hockadoo! The 2010 Tony winning Best Musical MEMPHIS will continue to blow the roof off of theatres across the country into the 2012 -2013 season. The season will kick off on September 11th in Portland, OR at the Keller Auditorium, and a return engagement is scheduled in the city where it all began – Memphis, TN at the Orpheum Theatre. On Wednesday, March 14th MEMPHIS celebrated its’ 1,000th performance on Broadway where it continues to bring audiences to their feet on a daily basis.
