SARTA Needs Volunteers, Actors, and Patrons for NEXT TO NORMAL, etc 2/18-4/22

SARTA-Calls-for-Volunteers-Actors-and-Patrons-for-Upcoming-Shows-20010101

SARTA needs volunteers who are available for a phone bank shift at KVIE on Sunday, March 04: 6:00-10pm. The program that night is:
"Richard Glazier in Concert: From Ragtime to Reel Time"
Richard Glazier will be live in the studio and it should be a fun night! They thought our group would enjoy being here for a music program! Boy would we! If you are available for this evening of live fun and music contact us at sarta@sarta.com.

Rocklin Community Theatre (RCT) is seeking an actor to play the role of Mitch Mahoney in its upcoming production of "THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE". Rehearsals began 1/22/12 and continue through 3/8/12 with performances 3/9/12 - 3/25/12. Must be a strong singer. Flexible rehearsal schedule possible. Please contact either Ryan Adame (rpadame@gmail.com) or Christi Axelson (luvndancin@yahoo.com) to set up an audition or for more details. Mitch Mahoney An ex-convict, Mitch appears an odd choice to be the bee's "comfort counselor," but it's part of his community service assignment. The outsider, who in a way gets to inhabit the audience perspective, he wonders about the wisdom of putting the kids though this at all. He has no idea how to offer comfort, but does increasingly find himself wishing he could find a way to make the kids feel better about losing, and perhaps place misspelling in wider perspective. E4 - A5

Ewing Ventures currently needs to recast the role of Gabe in NEXT TO NORMAL(2010 Pulitzer prize winner for drama) at the Nevada Theatre for a May/June run.
Gabe: (age 16-22) Young man who is the "ideal" vision of his mother. He may be an angel or he may just be a figment of her imagination. Strong singer good with harmonies as well as several solos. Strong actor also. Preferably fair in coloring but can adjust for the right actor. Individual weekly rehearsals begin the end of January. Sun-Thurs rehearsals in Grass Valley will begin in March. Contact lois@ewingventuresnc.com or 530-802-1801 to schedule an audition or for questions.

Sutter Street Theatre urgently needs male actors for Anne of Green Gables. Adult males ages 30 - 50's and preteen/early teen boys needed. Rehearsals have already started and will continue for the next five weeks. The play runs Saturdays at 1:00pm from Feb. 18 - Mar. 11. For information call Sutter Street Theatre at (916) 353-1001 and ask for Allen Schmeltz.

Casting calls for 5 women between the ages of 18 and 70 for NUNSENSE II: SECOND COMING, by Dan Goggin, directed by Brent Null. The audition is Sunday, Feb. 5 at 7:00pm at Sutter Street Theatre, 717 Sutter Street, Folsom. Actors must prepare 16 bars of music (not from NUNSENSE or any its sequels) and be prepared for cold readings from the script. Callbacks will occur at the director's discretion. NUNSENSE II: SECOND COMING could easily be subtitled "the rest of the story". The sequel to the international hit musical NUNSENSE takes place approximately six weeks after the first "benefit performance." The same five nuns are back on stage at Mt. Saint Helen's School for what is billed as a "Thank You Program' for their supporters. This time they are forced to work around the set dressing of "The Mikado" which is presented the following week by the Hoboken Music Society on the Mt. Saint Helen's Stage. Trouble brews when Sister Mary Paul and her prize money are claimed by a bunch of Franciscans.
Show dates and times are: Fridays and Saturday at 8:00pm, Sundays at 4:00pm from March 16 - April 22, 2012. Contact Director Brent Null at ban95678@comcast.net for more info.

Sutter Street Theatre is holding auditions for THE ADVENTURES OF PETER COTTONTAIL by R. Eugene Jackson, directed by Michael Coleman on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 7:00pm at Sutter Street Theatre, 717 Sutter Street, Folsom. The show runs March 24 - April 22 on Saturdays and Sundays at 1:00pm. Roles available for 8 actors.
All actors should be at least 15 years of age. Please bring a resume and recent headshot. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Puppeteering experience is a plus. Rehearsals will be M-Th 7-10 with possible weekend afternoons if needed.
Peter Rabbit lives happily in the Green Meadow, eating from Farmer Brown's carrot and cabbage crops. His sole concern is his name, Peter Rabbit. He doesn't like it. Along with his friends - Jimmy Skunk, Sammy Jay, Old Mr. Toad, Johnny Chuck, and others, he sets out to discover a new and more appealing name. Meanwhile, Granny Fox is so hungry for barbecued rabbit, she sends Reddy Fox to capture Peter. Reddy makes a variety of plans to trap Peter, but he is clearly outfoxed by the rabbit. But, in the end, it is Reddy Fox who helps Peter find his new name. Please contact the theatre at 916-353-1001 for questions.
