Come one, come all to the inaugural Little York Fall Fiber Arts Festival, to be held on October 13 and 14, 2012. This fine arts and crafts festival, the first of its kind in Cortland, will be held at the Little York Pavilion in Dwyer Memorial Park at 6799 Little York Lake Road in Preble. It will be hosted by the Board and Guild of Cortland Repertory Theatre with proceeds benefitting the theater's seasonal expenses as well as their capital campaign for the new "CRT Downtown" facility.

The festival hours are 9:00 – 4:00 on Saturday, October 13 and 11:00 – 3:00 on Sunday, October 14. Over 22 vendors will be attending, coming from across New York State and far into New England. Items for sale will be a variety of fiber products, including yarn and knitting supplies, raw wool and roving for spinning, felting supplies and crafts, unique jewelry and pins, seasonal art, and handmade knitted items including mittens, scarves, socks, hats and shawls. Also available will be unique gift ideas such as lamps and candle holders made from bobbins used in New England textile mills. Additional vendors will have all-natural products including maple products, soaps, and herbal salves.

Local raisers of llamas, angora goats, and Icelandic sheep will have their animals on display, including Songwood Meadows and Woodmansee Farms from Tully and Trinity Farm from Aurora, providing educational exhibits for young and old alike. Throughout the day, Joanne Andersen will be demonstrating different techniques in the art of machine knitting using the Silver Reed knitting machine. Also on Saturday from 11:00 – 3:00, Linda Wallowitz will be demonstrating drop spindle spinning.

There is a $5.00 entrance fee. Youth 12 years and under will be admitted free of charge. The CRT Guild will have a refreshment counter available with snacks, coffee and warm beverages as well as light lunch offerings.

Individuals attending should be aware that many vendors only accept cash or checks (not credit cards) and there is not an ATM on site.

Other New York state vendors who will be hosting booths include Spun Right Round Yarn Store (Cortland), Lime Hollow Naturals (Cortland), Burt's Peaceful Valley Enterprises (Preble), S & S Syrup (Marathon), Stone Edge Fibers (Phelps), Embraceable Ewe Yarn Shop (Hamburg), Fat Yellow Dog Farm (Newark Valley), Felt Goods (Locke), Peartree (Byron), Tassawassa Ridge Fiber Farm (East Nassau), West Creek Family Farm (Newark Valley), Windy Meadows Farm (Hamlin), The Wool Room at Long Meadow Farm (Freedom), and Cornucopia Yarn Shop (Endwell).
